#1 USE A NATURAL MOISTURIZER
Daily moisturizing is a good way to protect against dry skin. Applying natural moisturizer after a shower or using a gentle facial cleanser will help seal in the moisture your skin has just absorbed. Depending on the climate, skin can become dry throughout the day.
The face and hands tend to dry out the fastest, so pay attention to how your hands and face feel throughout the day and moisturize as needed.
#2 BE GENTLE TO YOUR SKIN
LIMIT SHOWER TIME. Hot water in showers and baths removes oil from the skin. Longer showers or baths can dry out the skin and cause irritation. Shower in warm water rather than hot water. Try to shorten the time you shower.
AVOID HARD SOAPS. Heavy-duty body washes and facial cleansers can strip away essential oil from the skin. Try using gentle body washes and cleansers. Use an exfoliator to reduce dark spots on the skin.
BE GENTLE WHILE WASHING YOUR FACE. Treat your face gently. Whether using a facial cleansing device or a washcloth, natural facial cleansing should be done gently. Rough face washing can damage the skin and leave scratches that are invisible to the eye.
AVOID USING BAR SOAPS WHENEVER POSSIBLE. Bar soaps often leave behind residues associated with the ingredients that hold the soap together. This residue can make dry skin conditions worse. Instead of using a bar of soap, use a gentle or mild liquid cleanser. Also, look for skin care products that are suitable for all skin types.
#3 PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN
One of the most important ways to protect your skin is to wear sunscreen. Exposure to strong sunlight can cause wrinkles, age spots, and more. Use an SPF of at least 10-15 every day. This will help prevent damage from UV rays. If you are outside for long periods of time, wear a hat or seek shade. Reapply sunscreen several times when swimming. Make sure your skin care routine helps protect you from sun damage.
#4 HEALTHY EATING
Have you heard the saying, "You are what you eat?" Eating a healthy diet can help you not only feel better, but look better too. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also, drink plenty of water. Water helps hydrate the skin and can help prevent the skin from drying out.
#5 AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE
Throughout the day, we touch countless things with different germs and chemicals on them. When we touch our face, these germs and chemicals can cause skin irritation. Be careful how often you touch your face. Try not to touch your face as much. Make a greater effort to wash your hands frequently. Use an organic or plant-based face cream to replenish your skin and protect it from free radicals.
#6 SLEEP!
Lack of sleep can cause stress, which can cause an increase in the stress hormone cortisol in the body. Increased cortisol levels can lead to inflammation in the body, which can affect the quality of your skin. Sleep is the time your body uses to regenerate and recover from your daily activities.
